Hitting the Road
We leave in four days for an epic summer road trip
If you’ve known me for a while, you might know that back in 2013, after graduating from Pratt, I drove around the country for 2-ish months in a bright yellow XTerra. I also found out right before I left that I’d be able to exhibit my photography work in a gallery that fall, just about a month after my return date.
I could either re-show my Senior Thesis project, or I could do my best to make an entirely new body of work on the trip. I decided to opt for new work, and to this day I retain a deep love for many of the images I created on that trip.
In a few days, I’m setting off again. Taking a different route, in a different vehicle, and in an entirely different chapter of my life.
My mom (Mary), the boys and I will be in our camper that we’ve lovingly named the FAM BAM VAN. We’ll be on the road from June 15 through August 20 (ish).
I have been spending way too much time on my phone, and I really want to unplug this summer. (As much as humanly possible while still working for WBRG and a few clients with open projects.)
I am going to delete Instagram from my phone, and the hope is to use my real cameras more than my phone camera. I’ve started to take photos again in a way that feels good and exciting. I’ll write and share photos here for more thoughtful sporadic updates throughout the summer.
Here’s the route we plan to take out west. I tried to make a nice trip overview, but Google wouldn’t let me add any more destinations!
I think I’m going to title these updates Trippy ‘26. And I’ll continue sharing Saturday Snaps, too! I hope you’ll enjoy being along for the ride…
More very soon 💙

Safe travels and have a great time!
